Introductory Reformer Course
The classes held at our specialised studios at Garden City shopping centre and Canning Vale use the "Reformer" machines to slowly introduce your body to the Pilates Method.
These well designed machines were invented specifically to perform the Pilates moves, allowing those who are less able to still appreciate the full range of Pilates exercises.
Using pulleys and adjustable spring tension to bring about weight resistance (which can be increased as you build strength) the Reformer machines always provide a challenging workout with the support you need.
Originally designed by Joseph Pilates to work the body in an athletic way, physiotherapists and hospitals are now using the Reformer in a "clinical" or rehabilitative way, to assist with injury recovery in a slow and very controlled enviroment.
The style of Reformer Power Pilates taught at PFIWA is true to the original method, using the machines to build full body strength and flexibility whilst keeping the body in correct form and alignment.
What is the difference between Floor and Reformer Pilates?
Essentially, the technique is the same, however Floor Pilates uses your own body weight against gravity to provide the weight resistance for your workout, whereas the Reformer machines use springs and pulleys to provide weight resistance. The springs and pulleys on the Reformer can be finely adjusted to tailor the workout exactly to your ability and to help assist with any mild injuries.
