Studio Playground with Lora Rainey: 26 August
In Pilates, mastery is all about performing with greater intention and precision in our movement. This is where we observe change in our bodies and the benefits of the method are most powerfully felt.
Studio Pilates is often regarded as the purest form of the discipline. It’s a ‘complete’ and highly-targeted training format that is customised to the individual, makes use of specialised apparatus, and is delivered in an intimate, often one on one, setting. Studio allows for greater focus on technical execution, proprioception (body awareness) and systematic progression in movement, with generally higher levels of precision.
Have you ever wondered what is involved in a studio session?
On 26 August, internationally certified (PMA and PAA) PFI Instructor Lora Rainey (she also holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Houston University, and is currently completing her Advanced Diploma of Pilates!), will be leading a workshop exploring how studio-specific apparatus can be used to enhance performance by:
- Focusing on technique and improving precision.
- Refining execution of movement.
- Improving body awareness.
- Accelerating progression in movements.
- Improving overall strength.
- Exercising mindfulness in movement.
Delivered in a circuit format, the workshop will provide an opportunity to experiment with the apparatus (cadillac, reformer, Wunda Chair, barrels and mat), and learn how each can be used to work from the ‘right’ muscles, creating targeted and systematic activation.
This workshop is ideal for those looking to identify or address specific areas of their practice that need improvement, this can include: activation, strengthening, mobilisation, control and release.
Studio Playground is suitable for clients at progressive to advanced level, athletes and student Instructors. While familiarity with the studio environment is not essential, attendees must be injury-free to enrol.
Come prepared to fell the burn! See you on the Studio Playground.
