4.9 stars. Real feedback from our community.
Lilly (9) is absolutely loving her Pilates sessions at PFI. She is a competition squad swimmer and plays other sports also and it has really helped her feel less hip and shoulder pain and tension in such a short space of time. Her posture has improved and she always leaves the sessions feeling happy, less tight and calm. The breathing and mindfulness of the movement also really helps her ADHD symptoms. Highly recommend!
— The Monk FamilyOur son, Bo (14), has been attending private Pilates sessions at PFI for the past couple of years, and the difference it has made has been incredible. Bo has a disability, including hypermobility, dyspraxia and ongoing digestive challenges, and his sessions have become an important part of supporting his overall wellbeing. We've seen improvements in his strength, balance, body awareness and coordination but most importantly, we've noticed a real improvement in his digestive health. Seeing him leave each session feeling more comfortable is something we're incredibly grateful for. Seeing Bo look forward to his sessions is such a joy.
What we appreciate most is that every session is tailored specifically to him. He can work at his own pace, build confidence and celebrate his own progress in a supportive environment. We're so thankful to the team at PFI for their care, knowledge and genuine support. The impact they've had on Bo's wellbeing is something our family truly values.

Why Childrens Studio Pilates?
Growing bodies are constantly changing. Every child develops differently, moves differently and faces their own unique challenges and goals. Children's Studio Pilates Appointments allow us to provide personalised support tailored to your child's age, stage of development, activities and individual needs.
Working one-on-one with an experienced instructor, children receive guidance that evolves as they grow. Whether supporting posture, movement development, confidence, sport, dance or a specific physical concern, each appointment is designed to help them move well, feel capable and build strong foundations for lifelong movement.
-
Helping children feel capable in their bodies through achievable challenges and personalised guidance.
-
Building strength, control, flexibility and body awareness to support the demands of dance training.
-
Creating strong movement foundations that can benefit children throughout adolescence and into adulthood.
-
Every child moves differently. Some children naturally have greater flexibility than others and while this can be an advantage in activities such as dance or gymnastics, it can also make it more difficult to develop the strength and stability needed to support growing joints.
Our Children's Studio Pilates sessions focus on building strength, control, coordination and body awareness through carefully individualised exercises. We work at each child's pace to help them move with greater confidence and stability.
For children living with hypermobility syndromes, including conditions such as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), sessions are tailored to their individual needs and abilities. Our goal is to help them build strength, improve movement efficiency and support participation in the activities they enjoy.
-
Every child learns and moves differently. Our one-to-one Children's Studio Pilates sessions provide a calm, supportive environment where movement can be adapted to suit each child's individual needs, learning style and sensory preferences.
For children who are neurodivergent, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD and other neurodevelopmental differences, Pilates can provide an opportunity to develop body awareness, coordination, balance, strength and movement confidence in a structured yet flexible setting.
Sessions are tailored to each child, allowing us to adjust communication, pacing and activities to create a positive movement experience that supports both physical development and confidence.
-
Supporting healthy movement habits and helping children develop greater awareness of how they move and use their bodies. In today's technology-driven world, where many children spend long periods sitting or using screens, developing good postural awareness and movement patterns is more important than ever.
-
Specialised support from highly trained instructors to help children and teenagers manage scoliosis through movement.
-
Individualised programs designed to complement sporting activities, support recovery from injury and improve movement efficiency.
-
Helping children navigate periods of rapid growth with improved body awareness, strength, coordination and movement confidence.
How Children's Studio Pilates Can Help
We understand that every child is unique. These are just some of the areas Children's Studio Pilates may support your child or teen. If your child has a specific condition or movement goal not listed here, we'd be happy to discuss how we can help.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Our Children's Pilates appointments are designed for children aged 7–17 years. We find this age range responds particularly well to our 30 minute 1:1 sessions and is able to get the most out of the individualised instruction. If your child is younger than seven and you're looking for movement support, please get in touch. We'd be happy to recommend an appropriate paediatric Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy provider.
-
This is assessed on a case-by-case basis and we recommend speaking with your NDIS Plan Manager or Support Coordinator to determine whether these appointments can be funded under your individual plan. If you require any information from us to assist with this process, we're happy to help.
-
If both children would like to participate as clients, each child will need their own initial appointment so that their program can be tailored to their individual needs. Where possible, we can arrange back-to-back appointments and there is space in the studio for a parent and sibling to wait comfortably.
We can also offer 60 minute Duo Appointments for siblings. These are most suitable for children who are able to independently follow verbal instructions and work through an exercise program together. For most children, particularly when starting Pilates, we generally recommend beginning with 1:1 appointments before considering a duo session.
-
Yes, you're welcome to bring your other children if needed. We understand that arranging childcare isn't always possible.
We simply ask that any siblings who are not participating remain supervised by their parent or guardian throughout the appointment and do not disrupt the session. This helps your child's instructor maintain their focus and ensures a positive experience for your child, other clients using the studio and everyone in the space.
If you feel your other child may find it difficult to remain occupied for the duration of the appointment, we recommend arranging alternative care where possible or contacting our team beforehand so we can discuss the best option.
-
Before your appointment, we'll ask you to complete an online health screening form so your instructor can become familiar with your child's history and goals. During the first session, your instructor will spend time getting to know both you and your child, discussing any relevant health history, injuries, concerns or goals. They'll also assess how your child moves through a range of simple movements and introduce them to the Pilates equipment. Using this information, your instructor will begin developing an individualised program designed specifically for your child's needs.
-
You're welcome to stay in the studio and observe the session, relax in our waiting area or leave and return at the end of the appointment if you prefer.
Many parents enjoy watching, particularly during their child's first few appointments, as it gives them a better understanding of their child's program and progress. As children become more familiar with the studio and their instructor, many attend their appointments independently.
If your child is younger or would benefit from having a parent present, your instructor will let you know what they recommend.
-
Comfortable clothing that allows easy movement is ideal. We recommend activewear or clothing that isn't restrictive.
Grip socks are required when using the Pilates equipment. If your child doesn't have a pair, these can be purchased at the studio
-
Our standard Children's Pilates appointments are 30 minutes, which we find is an ideal length for most children. It allows us to maintain engagement while providing focused, individualised instruction tailored to their needs.
For older children, teenagers, or those with more complex goals or conditions, 60 minute appointments are also available and may be recommended to allow more time for assessment, education and exercise progression.
If you're unsure which appointment length is most appropriate for your child, your instructor will be happy to discuss this with you and make a recommendation based on their age, goals and individual needs.
-
The ideal frequency depends on your child's individual goals, age, activity level and any specific conditions or challenges they may be working on.
For many children, one session per week provides enough consistency to build strength, coordination, body awareness and movement confidence while allowing time to practise and adapt between appointments.
In some cases, more frequent sessions may be recommended, particularly if your child is working towards a specific goal, preparing for a sporting or dance event, recovering from an injury, managing scoliosis, or would benefit from more regular guidance and progression.
Your instructor will discuss a personalised recommendation following the initial consultation and will review this as your child progresses. As their goals or needs change over time, the frequency of appointments can be adjusted to ensure they continue receiving the most appropriate level of support.
-
Not at all. Most children are completely new to Pilates.
Our instructors introduce the equipment gradually and tailor every exercise to your child's age, ability and confidence level.
-
Yes. Depending on your child's age, goals and abilities, sessions may include a variety of Pilates apparatus including the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector, Arc and other studio equipment. Your instructor will select the most appropriate equipment for your child's individual program.
-
Absolutely. Many of our younger clients participate in ballet, gymnastics, swimming, football, netball and other sports. Pilates complements these activities by helping improve movement quality, strength, stability, coordination and body awareness while supporting injury prevention and recovery.
-
If you're unsure whether Pilates is the right fit, we'd love to chat. We can discuss your child's goals, answer any questions and help determine whether Children's Pilates is likely to be beneficial before you book. There is also no obligation to continue with appointments so you’re welcome to try your first session and find out if this is something that suits your child.
-
Yes, in some circumstances.
Children aged 11 years and over may attend our group classes when accompanied by a participating adult. Children aged 13 years and over may attend independently after their first visit, provided a parent or guardian attends their initial session to complete the required health screening and waiver forms.
Our group classes are designed for the general adult population and are not suitable for children requiring rehabilitation, clinical support or condition-specific exercise. If your child has scoliosis, is recovering from an injury, experiences ongoing pain, has hypermobility or has other specific movement or health needs, we recommend beginning with Children's Private Pilates. This allows our instructors to complete an individual assessment and develop a personalised program before considering whether a group environment is appropriate.
Even for children without specific clinical needs, we generally recommend completing a few 1:1 appointments first. This gives your child the opportunity to become familiar with the Pilates equipment, build confidence and learn the fundamental movement principles before joining a class.
For those who are suitable for group classes, we recommend starting with our Fundamentals classes, where they'll receive a strong introduction to Pilates in a supportive environment.
If you're unsure which option is most appropriate for your child, please get in touch. We'd be happy to discuss their age, experience, goals and individual needs to help determine the most suitable starting point.
