ABOUT CHAIR AT PFI

The Pilates Chair (A.K.A Wunda Chair or Exo Chair) is a piece of original Pilates apparatus. It’s design offers a limitless and efficient full body workout that will challenge you in a completely unique way.

 

PFI is proud to be the only studio in Perth offering group Pilates chair classes!

The Pilates Chair resembles a backless chair with a wooden base topped with a padded seat. Beneath the seat is a pedal that moves up and down in an arc and is attached to springs that anchor to the opposite side of the chair. You’ll also use springs attached to the top, back and sides of the chair and a whole array of small props too so that no one Chair class is ever the same as the last.

Although widely considered to be the most challenging of the Pilates apparatus, our Pilates chair classes are suitable for every level of strength and conditioning. The work on the Chair most closely resembles and remedies the physical demands of our every day activities.

Feedback from the apparatus reinforces technique and challenges stability, while the manipulation of resistance creates work in big and small muscle groups alike, culminating in powerful, whole-body conditioning. Similarly to Reformer, all exercises on the Chair are scalable, making this a truly versatile format.

The benefits of Chair Pilates are many, including: improved mobility and flexibility; postural correction; development of long, lean muscle tone; and strengthening, from the inside-out. Pilates Chair can also accelerate performance results as part of a cross-training regimen and can be effectively incorporated into rehabilitation programs, most commonly in a Private and or Semi-Private Studio setting.

OUR CHAIR CLASSES

Our Pilates Chair classes are open level but if you’re completely new to Pilates, we recommend heading to a couple of Fundamentals Reformer or Matwork classes first before booking into Pilates Chair. These classes are a 50-minute program plus 10-minutes allocated to connect with your Instructor on all things Chair learning (60-minutes total). This allows us to meet you exactly where you are and build the skills you need to refine your practice, maximise satisfaction and help you see results – fast! 

Pregnancy Pilates Chair

Chair is a game-changer for pregnant women. The engineering design of the chair means that many of the exercises are performed seated, standing or side lying, perfect for pregnancy bumps. You’ll enjoy the truly delicious release but deep supportive strength and body awareness that the Pregnancy Chair classes will bring you.

HOW DO I START?

Our Introductory Group Pass is best way to start – you can try all of our classes and see what works for you and for your body.

Enjoy two weeks of unlimited Pilates Chair, Arc, Reformer, Matwork, Barre Attack and Pregnancy and Post Natal classes, for only $69.

If you are new to Pilates, we recommend that you first complete a couple of Fundamentals Reformer or Matwork classes before trying out our open level Pilates Chair classes.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

Quality in our Pilates Chair classes starts from the ground-up! Our studios use imported, Balanced Body Exo Chairs and only the best, professional-grade small props, including: weights, poles, magic circles, resistance bands, balls, foam rollers and more!

All you need to bring to class is grip socks (compulsory in all formats for hygiene reasons); and water to sip on. Grip socks are available for purchase on site.

WHEN ARE CLASSES AND HOW DO I BOOK?

PFI is open seven days a week with classes scheduled at convenient times throughout the day, across three studio locations. You can use your Intro Pass, membership or casual packages at all of our studios, for early and mid-morning, lunchtime and evening classes. Pilates Chair classes are exclusively found at our Myaree studio location.

We have a four-hour cancellation window and wait-list policy, to ensure you can get into all your preferred classes, as often as possible.

WHAT WILL IT COST?

Membership is the most cost-effective way to enjoy Pilates Chair classes.

If you just want to include some Pilates Apparatus group classes to your week, our Apparatus membership gives you access to 2 classes per week of any of our Apparatus styles – choose between Reformer at all levels, Pilates Arc and Pilates Chair!

After variety in your workouts? Our monthly All Access membership gives you access to any and all of our group classes at any of our studios. It’s All Access, Pilates magic!

We also have a selection of casual class packages available, so you can just drop in for a class whenever suits.
